The European Parliament has voted to adopt the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The EU CSDDD will impose mandatory requirements for companies to address negative impacts on human rights and the environment, requiring companies to adopt transition plans aligning their businesses with the Paris Agreement.

It will be phased in gradually, beginning with companies exceeding 5,000 employees and €1.5 billion in revenue in 2027, followed by those with over 3,000 employees and €900 million in revenue in 2008, and finally, all other companies in 2029. Member states must establish supervisory authorities to investigate and impose penalties on non-complaint firms.
